We are here to help.
The UCW (United Church Women) at Eden is an active group of women who meet for Christian fellowship, fun and service. The UCW is involved in serving the church, raising funds for the church and selected charities, and coordinating many of Eden's social events. We hold many events each year. The first Sunday of February is UCW Sunday. This service is planned and led by UCE members. Often one or more members are honoured with a lifetime membership. The third Saturday in November is our annual Christmas bazaar. We work year-round to prepare for this event.
Our church community continues to grow and we are always striving to find ways to serve the needs of our members and the church. Because we have a large membership with a wide variety of interests, we have three units, each with their own personality, that meet monthly at the church. As a group, we meet three times a year for fellowship and business. You are invited to come out to any of these meetings. We would be happy to see you! Contact the church office at 905-824-5578 for more information if you are interested.
The Units usually meet at the church, monthly September to June. Check your church bulletin for meeting details and times.
Primrose Unit
Meet the 2nd Tuesday of the month at 2:00 pm.
Nightingales Unit
Meet the 2nd Wednesday of the month at 7:00 pm.
Forget-Me-Nots Unit
Meet the 3rd Tuesday of the month at 7:00 pm in the choir room.
For those who knit or would like to learn, we will make shawls for a number of occasions. These shawls will be knit with love and prayers, and then dedicated before presenting it to the individual. The shawl represents this faith community wrapping itself around the individual with our love and prayers.
We meet the 2nd Wednesday of the month at 1:00pm.
If you are interested, please email the church office at office@edenunitedchurch.com or call 905-824-5578.

Who are we?
A group of worshippers at Eden who are helping the congregation to reach out, to learn about and then support the many groups and individuals that make up our community within our walls and here in Meadowvale.
What do we do?
We look at requests that come into the church for assistance and administer our Benevolent Fund
We are looking at HOW to live into the reconciliation process that the United Church of Canada has begun with our Indigenous Peoples
We seek ways to educate and inform the congregation on various Mission and Outreach Topics
We run events to engage with and support the Community – A Family Fun Day on Family Day in February, Clothing Marts (featuring rock bottom prices!) in the Fall.
We seek to connect with and learn from other Outreach Groups in our community.

TOUR OF THE SIX NATIONS RESERVE in Brantford
Wednesday, June 19, 2024
As part of our Indigenous Awareness Program, EMOH was pleased to offer an invitation to 25 folks in our congregation and their friends/family to explore this reserve…the only one existing where all 6 Iroquois (Haudenosaunee) tribes live together. It is also one of the areas housing the Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation, upon whose territory we worship at Eden.
Thanks to a grant from the UCC Justice and Reconciliation Fund, we were able to cover costs of the tour and lunch for these 25 people. We all contributed to the cost of renting a school bus to get us there and back and around the reserve. Little did we know it would be one of the hottest, most humid days of the summer…and school busses are not airconditioned! It was like a year-end school trip, but we all survived the heat somehow. A driver who stopped for us all to get an ice cream cone on the way back really helped!
Our guided visit started with a tour of Chiefswood National Historic Site, home of the renowned Mohawk poet Pauline Johnson. We learned a lot about the history of the tribes in this area and what life was like back in the early 1800’s there. Her father was the Mohawk Chief and her mother an English immigrant…an early example of native and settler working well together!
We then headed to the lovely Mohawk Chapel (oldest existing church in Canada, built in 1785) whose stunning stain glass windows tell the story of life in the area. Our young student guide brought these stories alive for us in her descriptions. A Haudenosaunee lunch of Three Sisters Soup and cornbread was served to us there.
We ended our day at the Woodlands Cultural Centre where the story of the Haudenosaunee people is told through innovative exhibits. A very moving virtual tour of the Mohawk Institute Residential School completed our day. This video was difficult to watch as it described the treatment of the residents of this school in the words of several survivors. The building itself is being refurbished to be open for tours likely next year, so that these stories will not be forgotten.
Thanks to all who joined us…it was a memorable day for all!
EMOH would like to thank the United Church of Canada for granting us funds through the Justice and Reconciliation Grant program to help make this happen.

Our families learned and celebrated the gift of light through the many festivals of the Winter season, from Diwali to Kwanzaa, Winter Solstice, Chanukah and Christmas.
We also had the opportunity to drum, sing and those who wished to, placed Semah in our peace garden as a blessing to the earth.
