Eden United Church Celebrates Essential Renovations to the Narthex Thanks to
$144,900 Ontario Government Grant
Mississauga, ON – On Sunday, local MPP Nina Tangri met with the team at Eden United Church to hear more about the $144,900 Capital grant from the provincial government’s Ontario Trillium Foundation (OTF).
“Eden United Church plays a crucial role in fostering community spirit and providing essential services to our residents,” said Nina Tangri, MPP for Mississauga—Streetsville. “The support of a $144,900 grant from the Ontario Trillium Foundation ensures that this important community hub can continue to offer its invaluable services and outreach programs. This investment is a testament to our commitment to strengthening community bonds and enhancing the quality of life for all Meadowvale residents.”
The funds, first awarded in September 2023, funded essential repairs and upgrades to the Narthex community Hub of Eden United Church. The project has allowed Eden to remain a Central Hub for our Eden Community Ministry and outreach as well as continuing to provide our community partners such as Eden Food for Change Foodbank with a pleasant and welcoming location to service their members.
“For 200 years, Eden United Church has been a proud and supportive member of the Meadowvale community,” said Reverend, Norm Henning-Pereira, Minister of the Eden United Church. “This grant allows us to carry on with supporting various community groups and partners by continuing to provide a welcoming first-class space for community meetings, concerts, family events and many activities that aid the marginalized of this community. We are deeply thankful for Trillium's support so that we can maintain Eden's dream of being that welcoming, supportive and safe space.”
Led by the Spirit, inspired by the Word, as followers of Jesus Christ, Eden United Church strives to create a safe, inclusive, welcoming community, where everyone can gather in fellowship, grow in faith, and go together into the world. This year, Eden United Church celebrates 200 years as a congregation in the Meadowvale area of Mississauga. Eden continues to be a hub for outreach, events and gatherings whilst supporting our community partners in their work.
“Whether it’s helping people learn new things, connect with their community, or simply have fun, organizations like Eden United Church deliver experiences that make a difference,” said Stan Cho, Minister of Tourism, Culture and Gaming. “That’s why grant support through the Ontario Trillium Foundation is so important. This funding will help ensure Eden United Church remains at the heart of the community for decades to come."
The Ontario Trillium Foundation (OTF) is an agency of the Ontario government with a mission to build healthy and vibrant communities across the province. Last year, OTF invested more than $110M into 1,044 community projects and multi-sector partnerships. Projects aim to enhance economic well-being, foster more active lifestyles, support child and youth development, provide spaces for people to come together and connect, and create a more sustainable environment.
